Ingredient prices
The list of ingredients with a cost: KPIs, filter by strategy, and how an ingredient enters the price catalog.
What it is
The Ingredient prices screen is the list of all your ingredients that have a defined cost. From here you can see each one's current price, which calculation strategy it uses, and how many purchases it has logged, and you can open any one of them to manage its price.
The screen's subtitle is: "Current prices, purchase history, and per-ingredient strategies."

Why it matters
A recipe's cost is calculated from each ingredient's current price. If prices are out of date, the calculated cost won't reflect reality and your margins will be misleading. Keeping a purchase history also lets you spot price changes and renegotiate with suppliers.
What you see
KPIs
Three indicators in the header:
- Ingredients with a cost — how many ingredients already have a defined price.
- No cost set — ingredients in your catalog that don't have a cost yet.
- Total tracked — total number of ingredients under tracking.
Filters
- Search — the Search ingredient… field to filter by name.
- Strategy — a selector that starts on All strategies and lets you filter by one of the five: Last purchase, Highest, Average, Manual, or Specific.
Table
Each row shows the Ingredient, Strategy (with its color tag), Current price, Average, Purchases, and Last purchase columns. The current price appears with up to four decimals and its unit (for example /g or /kg).
The Strategy tag uses a color per type: blue for Last purchase, red for Highest, green for Average, amber for Manual, and purple for Specific.
Each row has an info button that opens the ingredient's technical sheet, and a Detail link that goes to the ingredient detail page, where you manage the strategy and the history.
How an ingredient enters the list
The list is populated automatically. An ingredient shows up here as soon as you define a cost for it through either of these two paths:
- From a recipe's Costs tab — when you assign an ingredient's cost inside a recipe, that record is saved and the ingredient gets a price.
- With a manual record from its detail page — by adding a real purchase or a manual reference on the ingredient's detail page.
There's no bulk price import from a spreadsheet. Prices are logged ingredient by ingredient, on each one's detail page.
Empty states
- No costs yet: a banner reads "You haven't logged any costs yet. Once you set an ingredient's cost in the Costs tab of any recipe, the price will appear here automatically. You can also add manual references from each ingredient's detail page."
- Empty table: "No ingredients with a cost yet."
- No filter results: "No results for the current filters."
