Search ingredients
Find any ingredient in the catalog using search and filters.
Goal
Locate an ingredient within the catalog of 10,000+ sheets, whether to check its macros, review its allergens, or look up its density and weight per unit.
How search works
Search filters by name (in English or Spanish) and by brand. You type the text and, after a short pause, the list updates with the sheets that match. There's no button to press: the search runs on its own as you type.
- It starts filtering from 2 characters.
- It ignores case and accents (limon finds Limón).
- If you type several words, it finds the sheets that contain all of them, in any order.
- With a search, results are sorted by relevance (exact name first, then names that start with what you typed). Without a search, the list follows the catalog's alphabetical order, which is based on the Spanish name, so English names may not appear in strict A–Z order.
Next to the search box you have two more filters that can be combined:
- Category selector — pick a specific category or leave All categories.
- With allergens — narrows the list to ingredients that declare an EU-14 allergen.
Below the filter bar there's also a multi-select Tags section that narrows the catalog by cross-cutting traits (origin, diet, processing, use, chemical family, and source). Click the chips you're interested in and use Clear (N) to remove them. See the available axes and values in Ingredient catalog.
Any change to the search box, the category, the checkbox, or the tags returns the list to the first page.
Steps
Open the catalog
Side menu → FORMULATION → Ingredients section.
Type in the search box
Start typing the name or brand in the "Search by name, brand…" field. The list filters on its own after a short pause.
Narrow it with filters (optional)
In the same top bar, pick a category from the selector, check With allergens, or click chips in the Tags section to shrink the list.
Open the sheet
Click any result, or its View → link, to open the full sheet.
Tips
- If your ingredient doesn't show up: try the generic name (cream instead of UHT cream 35% fat from your usual brand) or remove any active filters. Remember the list paginates 50 at a time, so refine the search instead of clicking through every page.
- If a raw material isn't in the global catalog, create it as a custom ingredient. On this screen your own sheets are in the My ingredients tab (the catalog search only covers the global database); inside the recipe editor, the ingredient search does show them, marked with the Mine tag.
- For data specific to your supplier, consider adding custom fields to your account or keeping your own catalog with Import and export.
- Inside each sheet you'll also find the subcategory and the brand or origin, useful when several ingredients share a name.
