MelangerChart

The formula breakdown: a vertical visualization that stacks the ingredients by their proportion in the calculated formula.

What is it?

The MelangerChart is the Formula breakdown:, the visualization in the right-hand column of the formulator. It's a vertical vessel that stacks the formula's ingredients as layers proportional to their weight: the more an ingredient weighs in the composition, the taller its layer.

It's not an axis chart or a time curve: it's a direct visual reading of what proportion each ingredient takes up in the chocolate you just calculated. It updates instantly every time you change a control.

What does it show?

  • Stacked layers, one per ingredient present in the formula: cocoa mass, cocoa butter, milk (or plant-based alternative), sugar or sweeteners, and lecithin. White chocolate doesn't include a cocoa mass layer.
  • Side labels with the percentage of each layer: Mass, Butter, Milk, Plant alt., the sweetness layer, and Lecithin. The sweetness layer is labeled Sugar when the formulation is With sugar and Swt. when it's With sweeteners.
  • Bottom legend that ties each color to its ingredient. In that legend the sweetness layer appears as Sugar or Sweeteners depending on the chosen formulation.

How do you read it?

  • Each colored layer represents the proportion of that ingredient relative to the total formula.
  • Tapping a layer opens a tooltip with the ingredient name, its percentage and its grams.
  • The tooltip for the Sweeteners layer breaks down its internal split: Breakdown: Main load / Complementary / High intensity.

What is it for?

  • See at a glance the relative weight of each ingredient.
  • Compare variants of the same chocolate by changing the cocoa percentage or the formulation and watching how the layers reorder.

The MelangerChart is a visualization derived from the formula: it isn't saved in the recipe. If you reopen the formulator with the same parameters, it regenerates identically.
