Configure components

Associate the components of a compound product with an existing sample using the selection helper and the configurator's 3 steps.

Goal

Define the components that make up a compound product and associate them with an existing sample from one of your evaluations. A component (for example, the couverture or the filling) lives inside that sample.

Access path

  • URL: https://app.areacacao.com/sensory-analysis/compounds/new
  • How to get there: in Compound products, click Configure compound product.

Pro plan and above.

Step 1 — Select the parent sample

Before the configurator, you choose which sample the components will be associated with:

  • Evaluation: the tasting the sample comes from (you'll see its name and status).
  • Sample: the specific sample within that evaluation (internal name and blind code).

When you pick an evaluation, AreaCacao loads its samples, and when you pick one, the Step 2 — Configure components appears with the 3-step configurator.

If you have no evaluations with samples, you'll see No evaluations with samples and a shortcut to Create evaluation. If the evaluation has no samples, you'll see No samples in this evaluation.

The configurator (3 steps)

Step 1 — Define components

Add each component with the Add component button. For each one you specify:

  • Component name (e.g. 70% couverture).
  • Proportion (%).
  • Order.
  • When you expand the component: Description, Recipe (optional) and Internal notes (not visible to the panelist).

In this flow, Recipe is entered by typing the recipe ID as free text, not as a selector.

Each component can be reordered with the Move up and Move down arrows, and removed with the trash icon (Delete component).

The Auto-distribute proportions button shares the remaining percentage among the components that don't have a proportion yet.

The sum of proportions is validated against 100%. It turns green when the sum is within half a point of 100% and amber when it's not.

Step 2 — Review list

Review the whole set: the order of the components and the Components, Sum %, With recipe and No % indicators. The order determines how the components are presented to the panelist in separate mode, so adjust it here if needed.

Step 3 — Confirm

AreaCacao summarizes how many components you're about to create. Click Create components to save.

Expected result

The components are associated with the sample, and AreaCacao returns you to the Compound products screen, where the sample now appears with its Evaluate 5 levels and View results actions.
