Generate a filling
The scene-based Filling formulator wizard, scene by scene, until the recipe saves itself.
Goal
Generate a technically validated filling recipe. When you create it, it saves itself to My recipes: since generating consumes credits, the recipe is persisted no matter what.
Before you start
- Have an active account and at least 12 credits of AI in your quota.
- Decide which family you want (ganache, soft caramel, pâte de fruit, praliné & gianduja, or truffle), which flavors and what weight you need.
The formulator works by scenes: each screen answers a single question and takes you to the next. There's no intermediate "calculate" button and no separate saving step at the end.
Scenes
Scene 1 — What filling do you want to create?
You'll see a grid of five family cards. Each card shows the name, a short description, the number of available types, and a piping-bag illustration that animates when you hover over it. The praliné family carries a New badge.
- Ganache — creamy emulsion of couverture, dairy and flavor.
- Soft caramel — pipeable caramel, the useful format for bonbon fillings.
- Pâte de fruit — fruit jelly with pectin, acid and purée.
- Praliné & gianduja — a continuous, anhydrous fat system (no free water), with a long shelf life.
- Truffle — an emulsion of cream and couverture, firmer than a cut ganache, meant to be hand-rolled and coated.
If you tap a single-subtype family, the wizard selects it and jumps straight to the next scene (no need to press "Next"). If a family had several types, some chips would appear to pick the specific subtype.
At the bottom there's a shortcut, Quick formulation, which starts from a default configuration (ganache · one flavor · 1 kg) and drops you on the flavors scene with everything else already resolved.
Scene 1 only shows the five active families: Ganache, Soft caramel, Pâte de fruit, Praliné & gianduja, and Truffle. The families in development (Crunchy fillings, Foams, Creams and Traditional pastes) are hidden: they don't appear in the grid and can't be selected or generated. That's why there's no error flow for choosing them.
Scene 2 — How many flavors will your filling have?
Here you choose the flavor profile structure, from four options:
- One flavor — a single flavor that defines the filling.
- Two flavors — a primary plus a secondary that modulates it.
- One flavor + accent — a primary plus an aromatic or contrasting touch.
- Two flavors + accent — primary, secondary and accent.
Below the cards there's a panel What role does each flavor play? (expanded) that explains the three roles: the primary defines the character; the secondary modulates or lifts it; the accent adds an aromatic or contrasting touch in a small dose. If you later switch to a structure with fewer slots and you'd already chosen flavors that would be left out, the wizard asks for confirmation before discarding them.
Scene 3 — Pick your flavors
You define the flavors according to the structure you chose:
- Primary flavor (required) — what the customer notices first.
- Secondary flavor (if your structure includes it) — modulates or lifts the primary.
- Accent (if your structure includes it) — an aromatic touch (vanilla, tonka, orange blossom) or a contrast (salt, acid, heat); the engine sets the dose based on the family.
- Additional notes (optional) — qualitative cues for the engine (intensity, context, references), up to 200 characters. For example "Boost acidity" or "alcohol-free".
Each picker opens a search box with the full list of flavor families. Type to filter or tap a family to see its options; when you choose a flavor, the field closes and shows a chip with a Change link and an X to remove it. The same flavor can't repeat across two levels. If your structure didn't include an accent, you can add it right here without going back to the previous scene.

Scene 4 — How much do you need?
Define the weight and, if you want, some constraints.
- Total weight — choose one of the presets (500 g, 1 kg, 2 kg, 5 kg) or tap Other to type a value. The accepted range is 50 to 50,000 g and the default is 1000 g (the base formulas are designed for 1 kg).
- Advanced constraints (optional) — they come collapsed; expand them with the toggle:
- Diet — four checkboxes: Vegan, Gluten-free, Lactose-free and No refined sugar.
- Min cocoa % — minimum cocoa percentage; for example,
60for a 60% ganache. - Max water % — maximum water percentage, to force denser textures.
Scene 5 — Review and create
You'll see a summary of everything you've chosen. Each row has a pencil that takes you back to the corresponding scene to adjust.
Click Create my recipe. Below the button, a subtext shows the cost and your balance ("Costs 12 credits · Balance: N"). This is Quick mode, the only one available today. Generation takes a few seconds: your AI master chocolatier balances the recipe and validates it against the technical ranges.
During generation
While the AI works, the screen shows that it's creating your recipe and moves through several phases (analyze your request, search ingredients in the catalog, calculate balanced proportions and validate it meets the technical ranges). Don't close the window — you'd lose the recipe in progress.
If your flavor combination is unusual, the engine fine-tunes it automatically without asking for confirmation: you'll only see a note on the loading screen indicating it's an experimental flavor.
Expected result and auto-save
When it finishes, the recipe is already saved to My recipes. There's no "Save recipe" button and no name modal: since generation consumes credits, the app persists it on its own. The result screen splits into two columns:
- Recipe header — the proposed name, followed by
[type] · [weight]g · [N] ingredients. If the family defines it, a shelf-life band appears just below. - Physicochemical balance — a bar chart that compares each macro against the chef's optimal range (see Physicochemical balance).
- Master chocolatier notes — the recipe's sensory comment.
- Validation score — the 0–100 number that indicates whether the recipe meets the ranges (green for 90 or more, amber for 80 or more, red below 80). See Validation score.
- Ingredient table — name, weight in grams and percentage. An ingredient that's new in your catalog carries the new badge.
Below the table there's a fixed disclaimer: the estimated properties (water activity, pH, shelf life) are guideline calculations, not lab measurements. Validate the formula with your own tests and, for sale, with aw/pH measurement. Further down, a charge feedback like "−N credits · balance N".
Three action buttons:
- View recipe — opens the recipe sheet (already saved) at
/reciviewand refreshes your list. - Adjust — returns to the review scene to change inputs and create again.
- Create another recipe — restarts the wizard from the first scene.
If the proposed name matches one you already have in your account, AreaCacao adds an automatic differentiator so it won't overwrite your previous recipe. We explain it in Create a recipe → Duplicate names.
If the combination isn't available
If you choose a combination the engine doesn't cover, instead of the result you'll see a We're perfecting this combination screen and a Try another combination button. The refund is automatic: no credits are deducted. Try a more classic flavor (vanilla, coffee, pure chocolate) or switch family.
If generation fails
If after three attempts the engine doesn't reach the minimum quality (score below 70), you'll see the same neutral We're perfecting this combination screen and the 12 credits are refunded automatically. Common fixes in Troubleshooting.
Variants
- Primary flavor only. With the "One flavor" structure you don't need to indicate a secondary, accent or notes.
- Quick formulation. The scene 1 shortcut drops you on the flavors scene with family, structure and weight resolved by default.
- Default constraints. If you don't open the constraints section, the engine decides the ranges based on the family and chosen subtype.
