Your first recipe
Create a blank recipe from the Create button in the sidebar, add three ingredients, and let it save itself.
Goal
Create your first recipe manually from scratch, add three ingredients from the catalog, and save it.
Manual or AI-assisted recipe? Both the Create button in the sidebar and New recipe in the My recipes list open the same selector, What do you want to formulate? There, Recipe from scratch appears on its own, and the two assisted paths (Filling formulator and Chocolate formulator) are grouped under the AI-assisted divider, each with an AI badge. To create a blank recipe and fill it in by hand — which is what this guide covers — choose Recipe from scratch. If what you want is to generate a filling with AI, choose Filling formulator or go to Your first filling with AI.
Before you start
- Have an active account and a verified email.
Steps
Open the selector and choose "Recipe from scratch"
In the sidebar, click the Create button and choose New recipe. The What do you want to formulate? selector opens. Click the Recipe from scratch option.
Name the recipe
The Recipe name field comes with a suggested name (something like "New Recipe [date] at [time]") already selected: leave it as is for a quick test, or type over it with your own. Click Create recipe and the editor opens at /validation?id=<recipe id>. You can rename it later from the editor.
Check the header
In the editor header you can change the name and add a description; both are edited inline. The chocolate type, cocoa %, target weight, and fluidity fields don't appear on a recipe from scratch: they're only shown on Chocolate formulator recipes.
Add three ingredients
On the Ingredients tab, click Add components. In the search box, type at least two letters of the ingredient; the search tolerates typos and accents. Click Add on the one you want and adjust its quantity in the table. Repeat until you have three.
Let it save itself
There's no save button: the editor saves your changes automatically after a few seconds. In the header, the indicator shows Unsaved changes while something is pending and All saved once it's on the server.
Expected result
After creating the recipe you land in the editor (/validation), where you add the ingredients and everything saves itself. Your new recipe appears in the My recipes list (/recipes) and in the recipe list in the sidebar.
Common issues
