Pause your subscription
Pause for 30, 60, or 90 days instead of canceling, with the Pause subscription button. Your content is kept, and your subscription resumes on its own when the pause ends.
If you don't want to cancel outright but need a break from charges, AreaCacao lets you pause your subscription. The pause has its own button in the Subscription tab, doesn't ask for a reason, and is confirmed in a single step.
Where is it?
Avatar in the sidebar → Settings → Subscription tab → Plan and billing block → Pause subscription button. It appears next to Cancel subscription while your paid plan with monthly billing is active.
You can only pause if you pay monthly, and only once every 12 months. If you've already used your pause, the button is disabled and, when you hover over it, explains: "You can only pause once every 12 months. Write to us if you need a hand." It also doesn't appear while you have a pending payment.
How to pause
- Open Settings → Subscription and click Pause subscription.
- The "Pause your subscription" dialog opens, lets you choose 30, 60, or 90 days, and explains what happens:
- "You are not charged during the pause, which lasts [N] days."
- "You can still sign in, and your recipes and settings stay untouched. AI features come back as soon as you resume."
- The date the pause ends, when your subscription resumes on its own and charges start again.
- Click Pause subscription (while it processes, "Pausing...") or Keep my plan to close without changes.
- You'll see the confirmation "Subscription paused until [date]."
There's no date picker: you choose a pause of 30, 60, or 90 days. Your plan's badge changes to "Paused · resumes automatically on [date]".
Also from the cancellation flow
If you open Cancel subscription and in step 1 pick "The price doesn't fit my budget", "I'm not using it enough", or "I had technical problems", the modal offers you the same 30, 60, or 90-day pause with the Pause my plan button (only if your account can pause). See Cancel your subscription.
During the pause
- No charges are made.
- You can still sign in, and your recipes, settings, and history stay intact.
- AI features are on hold until you resume.
- You can resume early, before the end date, or cancel your subscription.
When the end date arrives
The pause resumes on its own. On the stated date, your subscription becomes active again, AI features come back, and charges start again. We email you a week before, and you'll get another email once your subscription has resumed.

To reactivate your plan before that date, click Resume subscription in Settings → Subscription. See Resume your subscription.
