Data and privacy

Download a copy of your profile and recipes as JSON, or request account deletion under the GDPR procedure.

The Data tab puts you in control of your information: you can export everything to a JSON file or request account deletion. It lives at https://app.areacacao.com/configurations, under the Data tab.

How do I get there?

Avatar in the sidebar → SettingsData tab. You'll see two sections: Export my data and Danger zone.

Export my data

Click Download my data (JSON). The app generates an areacacao-export-YYYY-MM-DD.json file with your profile + all your recipes and downloads it to your device. While it's being prepared, the button shows "Generating...".

Below the button you'll read: "Download a JSON with your profile and all your recipes. Handy for a local backup or migrating to another system."

The JSON is a machine-readable backup. Use it to keep a local copy of your recipes or to take your information to another system. The export is self-service: you don't need to ask support for it.

If something goes wrong during generation, you'll see a notice like "Export failed: …". Try again later.

Danger zone: delete your account

The Danger zone section reads: "Want to delete your account and all associated data? Email support and we'll handle the request under the GDPR procedure (within 30 days)."

The Request account deletion button does not delete anything instantly: it takes you to the Support screen (/support), which opens the general support form. There's no dedicated deletion form: you have to write the deletion request yourself there. Once it's submitted, the data deletion is processed manually and completed under the GDPR procedure (within 30 days).

There's no one-click automatic deletion: account deletion always goes through a support request. If you just want to stop paying but keep your recipes, consider canceling your subscription instead of deleting your account: when you cancel, your data is kept on the Free plan.
