Import and re-import in the editor

Pour a recipe from an image or a PDF onto the recipe open in the editor: import (when empty) or re-import (replace/append).

What it is

It lets you pour the contents of an image or a PDF onto the recipe you have open in the editor. It's useful for finishing the transcription of a sheet you digitized halfway, or for swapping the composition for that of a corrected document.

The button on the Ingredients tab changes depending on the recipe's state:

  • Import — when the recipe is empty (no ingredients): it only brings in what was extracted, there's nothing to replace.
  • Re-import — when the recipe already has ingredients: you can replace the current recipe or append the new items at the end.

It uses the same AI engine as importing from the listing; the difference is that here the result is applied to the open recipe, rather than creating a new one.

How to get there

From the recipe editor (/reciview?id=<id>), on the Ingredients tab, click Import (if empty) or Re-import (if it already has ingredients). The modal opens.

How to use it

Upload the image or PDF

Attach the photo or the PDF of the recipe you want to pour in. The modal shows your plan and the available credits (Plan X · N credits available) along with the Estimated cost: N credits for the operation.

Process with AI

Click Process with AI (N credits) to launch the extraction. The AI specialized in chocolate making reads the document and extracts ingredients, quantities, and steps.

Choose how to apply the result

  • If the recipe was empty, a single action (Import into the recipe) pours in what was extracted directly.
  • If the recipe already had ingredients, you choose between:
    • Replace current recipe — swaps ingredients, steps, and metadata for the extracted ones (the previous version is kept in history).
    • Append items at the end — appends what was extracted without deleting what you already had.

Review the result

Check the composition and the steps in the editor. As with any AI extraction, it's worth verifying quantities and units before considering it final.

Import and re-import consume AI credits from your monthly quota. The modal shows the estimated cost and your balance before processing; if you don't have enough credits left, the Process with AI (N credits) button is disabled and an insufficient-credits notice appears with a link to get more.

Re-import works on an existing recipe. To create a new recipe from a photo or a PDF, use importing from the listing (see Import recipes).
