Yield tab
Yield, serving size, and servings for your recipe.
What it is
The Yield tab records how much product actually comes out of the recipe after process losses, and how many servings it splits into. It's shown as three cards.
The three cards
- Yield — editable field between 0 and 1, with a default value of 1.0 (no loss). It represents the fraction of the ingredient weight that remains in the final product after losses (evaporation, trim, etc.). For example, 0.9 means you lose 10% of the weight during the process.
- Serving size (g) — editable field: the average weight of each serving in grams.
- Servings — number of servings. It's calculated for you (estimated final weight divided by the serving size) and marked as auto until you set it manually.
From the yield, the app calculates the estimated final weight = total ingredient weight multiplied by the yield.
What's input and what's calculated
| Field | Type |
|---|---|
| Yield, 0 to 1 | You enter it |
| Serving size (g) | You enter it |
| Servings | Calculated (editable: you can set it by hand) |
| Estimated final weight | Calculated (total weight × yield) |
Why it matters
Without a real yield configured, the app assumes a yield of 1.0 and works with the theoretical ingredient weight. Adjusting the yield gives you:
- A realistic final weight on the technical sheet.
- A correct cost per serving.
- A baseline for comparing yield across batches or production runs.
