Scale recipe
Adjust a recipe to a different weight, factor, or number of servings, with a preview before applying.
What it is
The Scale recipe assistant recalculates all of a recipe's quantities to take it to a different size while keeping the proportions intact. Use it to go from a small trial to a production run, or the other way around.
How to get there
From the recipe editor (/reciview?id=<id>), click Scale in the header. The Scale recipe modal opens.
How to use it
Choose the scaling method
Under Scaling method you have three options:
- By factor — multiplies all quantities by a number. With quick presets ×0.5, ×2, ×3, ×5, and ×10.
- By weight — you enter the Target total weight (g) and the app calculates the factor.
- By servings — you enter the Target servings. Available only if the recipe has a defined number of servings.
Enter the value
Depending on the method, fill in the Scaling factor, the Target total weight (g), or the Target servings.
Review the preview
The Preview section shows, ingredient by ingredient, the Before and After quantities of the scaling. Check that the result makes sense before applying.
Choose the destination
Under Apply to, decide what to do with the result:
- Modify this recipe — applies the scaling to the current recipe and saves a snapshot, so you can undo it from the Version history.
- Save as new — creates a scaled copy with the original's name plus the applied factor in parentheses, computed to two decimals (for example
Ganache (×2.00)orGanache (×0.50)), and takes you to the new recipe.
Apply
Click Apply scaling (if you're modifying this recipe) or Create scaled copy (if you're saving as new). To exit without changes, click Cancel.
Expected result
If you modified the recipe, the quantities are updated and you have a snapshot to revert. If you saved as new, a separate scaled recipe appears in your list.
