Ingredients tab

Composition table with the ingredient catalog, unit conversion, and per-row cost.

What it is

The editor's Ingredients tab lists the recipe's components with their quantity, their unit, the weight converted to grams, the percentage of the total, and the cost. It's the editor's default tab.

Action bar

Above the table you have four buttons:

  • Add components — opens the catalog to add ingredients.
  • Sub-recipe — inserts another recipe as a compound ingredient.
  • Add part — splits the recipe into parts.
  • Import / Re-import — pulls the recipe in from an image or a PDF. The button reads Import when the recipe is empty and Re-import once it already has ingredients.

Parts, sub-recipes, and re-importing have their own guides: see Parts and sub-recipes and Re-import with AI.

The table

The columns are: Component, Base qty, Unit, Weight (g), %, and Cost. The last row shows the Total and 100%.

Each row can carry informational badges: base if it's a base ingredient from the catalog, and sub-recipe if the row is another recipe inserted as a component.

How to use it

Add an ingredient

Click Add components. The catalog opens (titled Add components) with a search box whose placeholder is Search ingredient (2+ letters) — e.g. 'almo'. Type at least two letters and select the ingredient. The catalog has more than 10,000 ingredients; the Hide base ingredients toggle filters out base ingredients so you can focus on commercial products. When it's on, the catalog shows Base ingredients are hidden and the app remembers your preference across sessions.

Adjust the quantity and the unit

Edit Base qty and choose the Unit on each row. The Weight (g) recalculates automatically using the ingredient's density or weight per unit (see Unit conversion).

Assign a cost (optional)

Click a row's Cost value to open the price editor. You can enter it in €/kg, €/g, €/L, €/ml, or €/unit. When you save a cost greater than zero, the price is also recorded in the cost history (you'll see it under Costs → Ingredient prices).

View the sheet or remove a row

Each row's info icon opens the ingredient sheet. The control on the far right removes the row.

Weight-difference notice

If the ingredients' actual weight drifts more than one gram from the target weight, a notice appears with two buttons:

  • Adjust target to X g — changes the target weight to match the sum of the ingredients.
  • Scale components to Y g — rescales the quantities to reach the target weight.

EU-14 allergens

Below the table, a section summarizes the allergens from the EU-14 list detected in the declared ingredients. It's the basis for the allergens section of the A4 sheet.

Chocolate technical validation

In recipes with a chocolate type, a collapsible View the chocolate's technical validation block shows the formula's technical analysis.

Empty states

  • No ingredients: No components in this recipe. + Click "Add components" to search the catalog (10,000+ ingredients).
  • Part with no ingredients: No components in this part.
